Frontiers EcoPics: a natural history photo series

We are not accepting new EcoPics submissions at this time.

The Ecological Society of America’s Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment publishes photos that tell an intriguing natural history story, plus a 150- to 250-word description. Frontiers EcoPics is not just a series of attractive photos: the image and accompanying text should showcase an interesting and little-known aspect of an organism’s behavior and natural history. We recommend giving a brief introduction, discussing the natural history aspect shown in the photo(s), and concluding (where appropriate) with an open question – something that will make readers think about the science behind the photo. EcoPics text must be submitted within a Word document file.

Due to space constraints, we ask that each submission have a maximum of two authors and affiliations.

All submissions must be original material, with photos taken by the author. Submissions must not have been previously published, nor can they be subject to peer-review evaluation for another publication simultaneously.

Published submissions will receive a unique DOI, and will be included in the print version of the journal as well as online, where EcoPics are free for all to read.

Image specifications: photos should be sharp and properly exposed, high enough resolution to print at 300 dpi (at least 1200 pixels wide), and supplied as JPG, TIFF, or PNG files.

Please send submissions directly to sabrina@nullesa.org.

Note: Due to the volume of submissions received, EcoPics is a selective series and decisions given are final. Authors of accepted EcoPics should expect to wait several months before publication since there is limited space available to feature EcoPics within any given issue.
