In this installment of Beyond the Frontier, Peter Groffman discusses the challenges that scientists face in communicating complex scientific information to policy makers, the press, and the general public. This topic was the focus of the 2009 Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies Conference “Effective communication of science in environmental controversies”, and the basis of the August 2010 Special Issue of Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment.
